The nations largest energy company (FPL), serving an estimated 10 million people in Florida, has officially started construction in a grand plan to install 30 million solar panels by 2030.
This year alone, Florida Power & Light Company will construct 10 new solar power energy centers around the state. These new solar plants will consist of 3 million solar panels, and will create around 2,000 jobs during the peak of the 2019 construction period.
FPL claims these new energy centers will be ready to produce power and serve consumers by early 2020. The completion of this current 10 facility goal would increase FPL's solar capacity by 60% with energy reaching a total of almost 2,000 megawatts and providing power for approximately 400,000 homes.
If successful, this 2019 project would keep the company on track to accomplish its main project vision of installing 30 million solar panels by 2030. Should the company reach this "30 by 30" finish line, it would make FPL and the state of Florida a world leader in solar energy.
